A
word from the
Dealer Principal

Hello and welcome to our March edition and a special welcome to our new subscribers.
Our topsy turvy world was brought very close to home with fires in Victoria and the massive loss of life and upheaval for so many.
None of us can go untouched by what we have seen before us on TV and be inspired by the stories of those affected and importantly how Australia has rallied to the cause.
The flood of donations in excess of $100 million by individuals and corporations in these tough economic times is
a huge response by Australians.
From a business perspective the headline number you will have seen has the market down 20%. However this is of course off a record based on 2008 and the market has seen luxury cars and SUVs down some 30-40 per cent.
Overall, our brands of Ford, Hyundai and Chrysler Jeep Dodge and our certified used vehicle department continue to perform very well. A credit to all our staff in the way they are serving you, our customers.
We hope you enjoy this month’s issue. Happy and safe motoring. |

On the back of Linda Johnson celebrating 20 years service in January (see January e-news), this month we congratulate Belinda (Bel) Shepherdson and James (Jim) McGough, in February, on achieving 15 years service. |
Both Bel and Jim started with us straight from school and their commitment and dedication to their roles has been first class!
With Bel working in our accounting and administration department and Jim one of our most experienced automotive technicians.
Overall 25 of our staff, or 23 per cent, have 10 years or more service with us with Geoff Brice and Ian Brown our front with 42 and 40 years respectively! |

I had the opportunity last month to visit Hyundai Motor Company’s new head quarters in Sydney to have a sneak peak of the new, soon to be released, i20 and the yet to be confirmed new i10.
What can I say, they’re just amazing vehicles!
With i30 winning 2008 Australia’s Best Car under $28,000 and 2007 Cars Guide Car of the Year, I am sure the i20 and i10 will follow in big brother’s steps to be a real hit.
We look forward to featuring their vehicles in upcoming issues.
In the meantime here’s some photos for you to take a look. |

THE FOLLOWING LETTER IS FROM A VERY, VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER: |
'The vehicle pictured was purchased with LPG/petrol option by us from Adrian Brien Ford in December 1990. It served as my daily driver until February 2000. During that period it travelled 525000 km in metro and country South Australia.'
A great news story for the Ford product. Thanks Ian and Meryl for letting us know!

' To date the engine has not been rebuilt. A set of rings and bearings were fitted at 575,000 km (a rebore was not required). I consider this and any other work done can only be regarded as normal maintenance.
Since February 2000 semi-retirement (the vehicle, not me) has seen it used as my wife’s shopping, firewood-collecting and auction going trolley. Yes, my wife has named this vehicle ‘Johnson’ (as in Van Johnson)!
On Thursday 8 January 2009 the 600,000 km mark was reached.
In summary the best value for money and most reliable vehicle we are ever likely to own!'
Thank you!
Ian and Meryl Richter
