A word from the
Dealer Principal

Hello and welcome to our July edition and a special welcome to our new subscribers.

June 2009 turned out to be the third largest vehicle sales month on record backed by the Governments 30 – 50 per cent business investment allowance as well as strong retail vehicle sales.

There is certainly a great deal more positive economic news and the short to medium term horizon is looking very good for South Australia as mining and construction as well as considerable rains for the rural sector has lifted confidence.

The expectation for strong vehicle sales continues with the 50 per cent investment allowance continuing until 31 December for small businesses.

We have enhanced our websites again this month including our online survey. Jump online today and check us out.

We trust you will enjoy this month’s issue and don’t forget back issues can be viewed on our website.

Happy and safe motoring.

MORE MONDEO

Ford’s Kinetic design philosophy rears its head in the Ford Mondeo wagon making for a sleek and refined vehicle with a good helping of style and has the extra benefit of additional carrying capacity.

Packed with clever and convenient technology such as Bluetooth® with voice control, an Australian first this segment, the Mondeo wagon has the advantage of Ford’s Human Interface which affords you the ease of doing everything from changing the temperature of the automatic climate control to making a telephone call, all without taking your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road.

With an already remarkable 542/1005-litres of luggage space with the seats up, the 1733/2163-litres it provides with the seats folded flat mean you have countless options for carrying your family, friends and life in.

The Mondeo wagon’s safety features aim to help you avoid an accident, but in the event of one, it will help protect you and your passengers. The Intelligent Protection System (IPS) includes an innovative 7-airbag system, Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), front and rear brakes and ‘follow me home’ lighting.

It’s little wonder then that it’s been awarded a maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating, giving you further peace of mind.

The Mondeo wagon; its Ford, of course.

STAFF PROFILE: RICHARD YAXLEY

Richard Yaxley is somewhat of a veteran in the crash repair industry having begun his career at only 15 years old in Norfolk, England, nearly 40 years ago.

He has worked for internationally recognised manufacturers, independent crash repairers, owned his own crash repair business and managed a panel shop and also sprayed and repaired trucks and trailers in a 40 foot spray booth which he says was ‘very interesting’.

In 1997 Richard and his family packed their toothbrushes and passports and headed out for a new life in Australia, finally settling in South Australia.

‘I used to be a real ale drinker in the UK which I miss but being in South Australia I’m surrounded by some of the world’s best wines so I’m a red wine man these days.’ He said.

‘Plus I really love the great seafood in Australia.’

Having travelled extensively throughout Europe and the US while he lived in England, Richard’s travel plans are to see much more of Australia and perhaps play some of the many golf courses on offer.

Having worked in the crash repair industry in both England and Australia Richard says the gap in technology between them has closed in recent years:

‘When I came to Australia nearly 13 years ago I found that technology was behind in certain areas but we’ve certainly caught up with Europe now.’ He said.

Richard has just celebrated ten years of employment at Adrian Brien where we, and all of our customers, certainly appreciate his vast and varied knowledge.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING TIPS

It’s easy to do your bit for the world by living a more sustainable life. Take some inspiration from our sustainable living tips to begin making changes.

Reduce evaporation by covering your swimming pool with a solid cover.
Catch the water from dripping taps in a container and use for watering plants or washing your car.
Think about keeping chickens and ducks. Not only will you enjoy tasty free-range eggs but you’ll get some fantastic garden pest controllers too!
Keep a composting bucket and turn kitchen scraps into a nutrient rich soil to use in your garden.
Make a start somewhere and get going at making your home, garden and lifestyle more sustainable in some kind of way.
Pass it onto to others. Get your friends, family and the next generation of gardeners into the same living habits as you and encourage them to be just as keen on sustainable living as you are.
