A
word from the
Dealer Principal

Hello and welcome to our new subscribers.
It has now been three years since we started our e-news and are so pleased at all the great feedback you have given us. For that we’d like to say thanks.
Our dealership is celebrating the huge success of Rob Pryde, Hyundai Master Technician, who took out top spot in the Australian Hyundai Masters Skills competition.
Rob is off next week to represent Australia in Korea where 100 technicians from 70 countries will compete for the title of World Skills Champion. Watch out for articles on Rob in the Advertiser as they have recently interviewed him.
One of the most exciting vehicles ever to be launched hits the dealership in November as we have featured in our lead article.
We trust you enjoy this month’s issue. Happy and safe motoring.

FIESTA ECONETIC A HYBRID BEATER
|
It's clean and green and perhaps most importantly, a hybrid beater in the fuel economy stakes. And it’s coming in November to Adrian Brien. |

One of the most fuel-efficient hatches available, the Fiesta ECOnetic is an economy car without compromise.
The modern direct-injection 1.6-litre diesel Fiesta ECOnetic achieves a fuel economy figure of just 3.7 litres/100km with a C02 emissions figure of just 98 g/km. That's better than a Toyota Prius Hybrid.
The ECOnetic is powered by a 1.6-litre TDCi diesel with a particulate filter that develops 66kW at 4000 revs and 200Nm from just 1750 revs.
In other words the ECOnetic will enable customers to drive a mainstream, fuel efficient and low CO2 emitting vehicle that is also stylish and affordable. It looks and functions just like conventional Fiesta, using conventional diesel powertrain technology, yet it has the potential to deliver best-in-class CO2 emissions compared to the current crop of competitive vehicles, as well as against today's most popular hybrids.
It uses a combination of the latest generation common rail diesel powertrain, together with low rolling resistance tyres, aerodynamic aids, longer final drive gear ratio, 10mm lower suspension and specially calibrated diesel. A green shift indicator light in the instrument cluster signals to the driver the optimal point to change gear to maximise fuel economy.
The Fiesta ECOnetic could pave the way for other ECOnetic models, but for now we’re just excited about this one, and we’re sure you will be too.

As I mentioned briefly in the last e-news I travelled with Hyundai management and a group of Dealer Principals to Korea on a study tour of Hyundai’s facilities.

Our main focus was in the city of Ulsan located in the south east of the country facing the sea of Japan. It is South Korea’s seventh largest city with a population of around 1.1 million (about the size of Adelaide).
Ulsan is the industrial powerhouse of South Korea and home to the world’s largest automobile assembly plant operated by Hyundai, the world’s largest shipyard, also operated by Hyundai – an achievement not widely known – and the world’s second largest oil refinery, owned by SK Energy.
We visited both the vehicle assembly plant and the shipbuilding facility which was an awesome experience.
The vehicle plant is made up of four facilities which between them produce a vehicle every 14 seconds, 20 hours a day. That’s around 5,000 vehicles a day! Effectively every 20 seconds a vehicle is loaded on a ship, bound for export.

Hyundai’s Heavy Industry’s (HHI’s) Shipbuilding Division, the world’s number one shipbuilder, leads the global shipbuilding industry with a 15% share of the market. The Hyundai shipyard stretches over four kilometres along the coast of Mipo Bay in Ulsan, Korea.
The Shipbuilding Division is capable of building all types of ships to meet various demands from its clients. It has nine large-scale dry docks with six huge ‘Goliath Cranes’.
Since the shipyard’s groundbreaking in 1972, HHI’s Shipbuilding Division has garnered many awards and set many records within the shipbuilding industry. In 2009 they are expected to produce 116 vessels including VLCCs, tankers, product carriers, chemical tankers, container ships, bulk carriers, OBO carriers, Ro-Pax ships, Ro-Ro ships, pure car carriers, LNG and LPG carriers and frigates.

We also saw the latest model small SUV releases, the ix35 which is due here in January 2010; another winner without a doubt.
Overall the trip was just amazing. My thanks to Hyundai for the great experience!
