A
word from the
Dealer Principal
Hello and a special welcome to our new e-news subscribers.
Mad March is almost behind us with, with the Fringe, the Festival, Adelaide Cup, Clipsal and State Election. I’m not sure how people found time to buy a new vehicle or get their vehicle serviced. But you did and our business is headed for another very successful month.
The interest in the newly released Hyundai ix35 has been phenomenal. The order ??? has been equally impressive and very soon you will see many of this great vehicle on the road. Next to arrive is the i45, featured in this issue.
A special congratulations to Bob Pike who celebrated his 10th year with us. In addition to this Bob was an electrical sub-contractor to our business for 20 years prior to joining in 2000.
Have a safe and enjoyable Easter and take special car the roads at this busy time.

The second quarter of 2010 will see Hyundai Motor Company unleash i45: a brand-new mid-size sedan.
|
The i45 encompasses Hyundai’s new ‘fluidic sculpture’ design elements along with a host of luxury features.
Having already broken sales records in South Korea, and collecting awards in the U.S., the i45 is likely to have quite an impression on the Australian mid-size market.
You can expect great fuel economy from this stylish player too, as a result of the new 2.4-litre Petrol Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder engine, fresh six-speed manual and automatic transmissions and well-polished aerodynamics.
The i45s heading to Australian shores will be produced in South Korea.

BOB PIKE CELEBRATES 10 YEARS AT ADRIAN BRIEN |
Veteran auto electrician Bob Pike has been solving the electric problems of cars in South Australia for 45 years now, and fortunately for us, the last ten of those has been at Adrian Brien.
Bob has seen the inside workings of vehicles change dramatically over the years, which has kept his interest in the role for so many years.
‘There was none of the electronics we have now when I started, now the car is almost totally controlled by electronics.
‘That’s why I love what I do: I like electronics and I love problem solving,’ he said.
Bob is married and has two grown up daughters who have given him five grandchildren.
They keep him fairly busy, but when he gets some free time, he likes nothing more than taking a stroll along the beach, and simply relaxing.
However Bob has plans to one day take his relaxing overseas to explore Canada because he’s ‘never seen snow’ and New Zealand ‘because it’s pretty much every country in the world, from snow to geysers to fjords’.
Being an auto electrician, Bob understands cars inside out, so one thing he advises customers is to get to know your car.
‘The biggest mistake people make is misunderstanding the car they’ve bought and so they don’t know what it does or what it should do. It’s really important to read the manual.’

Wash your car regularly
It might sound obvious, but washing your car regularly is the key to keeping your vehicle in optimum condition. You want to keep your paint-job looking as best as you can, not only for the sake of driving a nice looking car, but it also helps when it comes to resale.
What you do with your car will dictate how often you will need to wash your car, and how thorough you will need to be. Consider whether you have it parked in a garage all day, or you park under a tree full of birds.
It’s generally best to give your car a wash once a month at the very least.
A car’s paint is important not only to make your car more attractive and personalised, but to protect the body of the vehicle from corrosion.
Most people don’t realise that it’s the little things that can cause big problems like corrosion to their car. Bird droppings and squished bugs, for example, can damage the paint and leave permanent marks.
|
|
When washing your car, keep water restrictions in mind and do the right thing. In fact, if you can it is a good idea to head down to your local DIY car wash as all water is recycled, and everything you need is there for you.
Just a basic scrub and rinse is all you need to do, and every now and then you should give your car a blast with a high pressure hose in all those hard to reach places underneath, where dirt and sand can accumulate.

Fondue is a great sharing idea for when you’re entertaining, and the best thing is you can customise it by choosing the cheese and dipping food yourself.
|
INGREDIENTS
1 garlic clove
750g Swiss-style cheese, grated
2 teaspoons flour
1 ½cups (375ml) dry white wine
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon kirsch
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 baguette, cut into bite-size cubes
|
|
METHOD
Rub inside of a flameproof saucepan with garlic. Add cheese, flour, wine, lemon juice, kirsch and nutmeg. Cook on very low heat for 5 minutes, stirring in a figure-eight shape, until melted and creamy. Keep fondue hot over a tea light and serve with baguette cubes for dipping.
Tip 1: You can also serve this fondue with steamed baby potatoes, cauliflower florets or baby carrots.
Tip 2: Look around for different Swiss-style cheeses, such as Gruyère, Emmenthal or Jarlsberg, using a combination of two if you like.
