A
word from the
Dealer Principal
Hello and welcome to our July e-news.
Following Peter Darrell achieving his 20th year of service, we back that up with two more: Dave Twigg and Justin Boyd who just celebrated their 20th year with us during July. Well done guys and thank you for your loyal and dedicated service.
We are also pleased to add Adtrans Kia to the Adrian Brien Automotive stable, which we took over managing at that site on July 1.
This month we say goodbye to Parts Manager Darren Alexander who, after eight years of service, is off to assist his partner in her business. Also Shannon James has returned home to Whyalla and taken up the role of General Manager of the local Toyota and Hyundai dealership. All the best to Darren and Shannon in both their futures.
It certainly has been a cold and wet winter and the rain has and will be an important boost to the rural sector in SA.
Things are heating up though in the political scene with us all voting at the polls in August. Whatever the result we trust those in government will ensure the marginalised and disadvantaged in our community are appropriately assisted.
Happy and safe motoring.

ADTRANS KIA IN THE ABA STABLE |
Effective of July 1, we have assumed control of Adtrans Kia on South Road.
Craig Sachse, who many of you will know from having been here for 14 years has headed up the location, and Alex Conte has assumed the role of Service Manager.
We have all been impressed with all the Kia line up and as Kia is now owned by the Hyundai Motor Corporation it is bound to be a force in the coming years.
Especially impressive has been the recently released Sorrento and the all-news Sportage which is due shortly.

So if Kia is on your shopping list, drop in and see Craig and the team at 1178 South Road, Clovelly Park – opposite the ‘BP on the Run’ – or visit online at www.adtranskia.com.au

FALCON UTE’S FIVE-STAR TREATMENT |
Ford’s Falcon Ute has been given the five-star treatment with a five-star crash safety rating from ANCAP.
|
|
The Ford XR6 Ute, which has chest and head-protecting side airbag and electronic stability control (ESC), which has also been introduced as standard on the XR6, XR6 Turbo and R6 Ute, scored 33.58 points out of a possible 37 in the recent ANCAP testing.
The result is not only outstanding for Ford and the Falcon XR6 Ute drivers who will benefit; it’s also the best recorded safety ratingfor a utility vehicle in Australia.
This is just one more reason to put the Falcon Ute on your shopping list when you’re looking for your next workhorse! |

During July a member of the Adrian Brien team reached an admirable milestone; that is, reaching the mark of 20 years with the dealership.
Justin Boyd is a technician at Adrian Brien Keswick, and has been at the dealership since the tender age of only 17 years old. So, how does it feel to realise it has been 20 years?
“Yeah really good; it went pretty quick”.
As a thank-you gift for so many years of hard work Justin was given a gold watch, which he said he will treasure as a keepsake.
Throughout his time at Adrian Brien, Justin has seen cars evolving year by year, going from carburettors to fuel injection.
He said it has been great to see that there are others still at Adrian Brien who were there back when he first started, which is a testament to the dealership.
Finally, what kept Justin coming into work each day for the past 20 years?
“Adrian Brien has been good to me”. |

RECIPE OF THE MONTH: PASTICCIO |
A good pasta bake always goes down well so indulge your dinner guests with this truly delicious pasticcio, which combines a rich tomato and beef sauce and creamy béchamel topping, generously topped with parmesan
INGREDIENTS
60ml (¼ cup) extra-virgin olive oil
1 each small onion, small carrot and celery stalk, finely diced
60gm mild pancetta, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
750gm minced beef
130ml red wine
450ml tomato passata
1tbsp coarsely chopped oregano
½tsp thinly sliced sage (3 leaves)
400gm dried zitoni tagliati or a tubular pasta such as rigatoni
For greasing: butter
For dusting: fine fresh breadcrumbs
To serve: finely grated parmesan
Salsa besciamella
70gm butter, coarsely chopped
70gm plain flour, sieved
700ml milk
80gm each of provolone piccante and parmesan, coarsely grated |
|
METHOD
1.
Heat half the oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Sauté onion, carrot, celery, pancetta and garlic until tender and starting to caramelise (10-15 minutes), remove from pan and set aside. Add 1 tbsp oil to pan, add half the beef and sauté until browned (3-5 minutes), remove from pan and repeat with remaining oil and beef. Return beef and vegetables to pan, add wine and cook until reduced by one-third (3-5 minutes). Add tomato passata, oregano and sage, and cook over low heat until thickened (20-30 minutes). Set aside.
2.
Preheat oven to 190C. Cook pasta in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until just al dente (5-10 minutes). Drain and refresh under cold running water. Layer in a 2.5-litre-capacity baking dish, buttered and dusted with breadcrumbs, top with beef mixture and refrigerate.
3.
For salsa besciamella, heat butter in a saucepan over medium heat, add flour and stir until sand-coloured (3-5 minutes). Add milk gradually, stirring continuously until incorporated and sauce is smooth (5-10 minutes). Add cheeses, stir until melted, spoon over beef mixture, scatter with extra parmesan and bake until golden and bubbly (30-40 minutes). Serve hot.
